Q.
What is My Accounts?
A.
My Accounts is FIU’s Central Authentication System (CAS), available to all FIU faculty, staff, and students. It allows you to synchronize your passwords across various systems, such as FIUmail, PantherMail, and the Clean Access wireless network. For a complete list of systems that tie into the My Accounts system, click here.

How do I access My Accounts?
A.
You can access My Accounts via myaccounts.fiu.edu.

Q.
When I change my password with My Accounts, how long does it take for the new password to go into effect? 
A.
When you change your password with My Accounts, the change will take a few minutes to affect the systems that tie into My Accounts.

Q.
What accounts tie into the My Accounts system?
A.
The accounts below are managed by the My Accounts system.This means when you change your password on My Accounts, you will also use the same password for these accounts.

  • FIUmail (Employee email system)
  • PantherMail (Student email system)

Q.
If I change my password on FIUMail (Microsoft Exchange) using Outlook Web Access, will it also change my password on all my other systems?
A.
Yes, if you change your password on FIUmail (fiumail.fiu.edu), the password change will synchronize with all your other systems that tie into My Accounts

Q.
If I change my Active Directory (AD) password on my computer by clicking on the Change Password button (after pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete), will it change my password on My Accounts and all the other systems? 
A.
Yes, if you change your AD password, the password change will synchronize the my Accounts system and all the other systems that tie into My Accounts.

Q.
When can I start using My Accounts? 
A.
My Accounts will be available starting April 20th, 2009.

Q.
What do I use for a User ID and initial password when I access My Accounts for the first time? 
A.
Your User ID will be your email username (without the @fiu.edu) and your initial password will be your date of birth (in the format ddMonYYYY).  For example, if your date of birth is March 17, 1980, then your password would be 17Mar1980.

Q.
Will I be forced to change my password the first time I log in to My Accounts? 
A.
Yes, the first time you access My Accounts, you will be forced to change your password so that all your passwords can be synchronized.  You will also need to set your password security questions so that you can reset your password in the future if you were to forget it.

Q.
What happens if I forget my password and security questions?
A.
If you forget your my Accounts password and security questions, please contact the UTS Support Center by calling 305.348.2284.

Q.
How do I request access to accounts or see what access I have via My Accounts?
A.
These features of My Accounts are not yet available, but will be rolled out in the near future.

Q.
What password do I use to access My Accounts for my departmental or club account?
A.
Since there is no "birthdate" associated with a club or departmental account, you will need to first change the password for the departmental account via FIUmail (Outlook Web Access) or for club accounts via the change password interface on PantherMail, in order to synchronize the password with all affected systems and with My Accounts. From then on, you can access My Accounts for those departmental or club accounts with the newly created password.
