UTS provides the University with reliable voice services, which include phone lines, equipment, voicemail, long distance and more. To request a service, please contact the UTS Support Center.

Telephone Lines
There are a variety of telephone lines available to help meet your department's individual needs. Services are available for telephones, faxes, credit card machines, elevators, etc.
The university's phone system makes available a variety of applications including Emergency Notifications, Music On Hold, IP Contact Centers and Personal Address Book.

Telephone Features
Immediate Divert (iDivert)
iDivert is a softkey option that will appear on your phone when you are receiving an incoming call. By pressing this button, as soon as you hear the phone start ringing, you can immediately route the caller to your voicemail box. Please note that in order to use this feature you must already have voicemail on your line.
Do not Disturb (DND)
The DND feature allows you to temporarily suppress the ringtone on your phone. To enable the DND feature, press the "More" softkey and then press "DND". The phone will display the message, "Do Not Disturb is active". Once you have enabled the feature, if you receive a call, your phone will not ring. Instead, your phone will beep once and display the information for the incoming call. To disable the DND feature press the "More" softkey again and then press "DND".
Local/Long Distance Dialing
University phones are able to dial within the FIU telephone system (5 digits) and the local calling area (10 digits). With authorization from the department, a line can be enabled for domestic and/or international long distance access.

Directory Assistance
For directory assistance to the FIU community call 305-348-2000. You can request departmental, faculty or staff telephone listings, driving directions to FIU, and other general information.
Inbound 800 Toll Free Numbers
Toll Free Number that allows callers to dial FIU numbers without incurring toll charges. Department owning the toll free service will incur the usage charges.
Reservation-less Conference Calling
Reservationless Voice Conference Services (VCS) provides on-demand conferencing. Allowing you to initiate a conference 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - without the need to make a reservation. For instructions, pricing information, and frequently asked questions, please click here.
Voicemail
The Division of IT is transitioning FIU's voicemail system from the current Avaya solution to a new voicemail system powered by Microsoft. For more information on the voicemail transition, click here. For configuration instructions on the old voicemail system, please see below.

Telecommunications Billing:
Responsible for billing departments' monthly recurring and non-recurring telecommunications charges. Monthly charges are billed directly to the department using the UTS Billing System. All departments are required to review their charges each month and reimburse the university for any personal calls made from university owned telephones.
